Kos has a story on “Deadbeat Democrats:” those Democrats who have failed to pay their dues to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. There are 21 Democratic Caucus members who have not paid a dime toward their dues for the 2006 cycle. One of them is Indiana’s own, Julia Carson (D IN-07). Despite having a warchest of $271,000, she has paid nothing toward her DCCC dues.
That doesn’t exactly ruin my opinion of her. I still can’t get over her level of voting no-shows and still getting re-elected. Even if caused by illness, you should concede that you are not effective if you don’t vote!
Yeah, I’m not all kicked up on dissing Indiana Democrats in power, since there are so few, but she’s really not that great. The only plus to her is that she has brought home some “bacon”.
Course, you also have to remember that she “owes” $150k and only has $270k for her campaign. That would take more than half of our her warchest away from her – and Indiana’s not the place that the DCCC is going to put any money at all into. She would, in effect, be giving away half of her cash and risking her own re-election to fund someone else’s campaign for them…
