The American Prospect has a good article on what Al Gore has been up to. The short version: He’s a good deal smarter and more insightful than most politicians of whom I am aware, he’s up to some cool stuff with regard to media, and he has no apparent plans to run for President in ’08 though there are many who would like him to do so.

Gee I wander why?
There is more and more evidence that 2005 will prove to be the year world oil production peaked. If so Oil price could really soar in the next couple of years. 2005 already looks like the warmest year on record since the last ice age. Based on ocean temperatures 2006’s hurricane season could be as bad or worse than 2005’s. In the last 5 years the US has lost its lead in information, mass transportation and renewable energy technologies that could have been providing hundreds of thousands of good new jobs due to a drop in government support and wise policies.
Looks like all the things the right-wing ridiculed Gore for warning about over for the last 2 decades are coming to pass. So maybe Gore is such a geek after all.
That is why so many independents not to mention Democrats would love for Gore to throw his hat in the ring for 2008.
