This post is apropos of very little, but it reminded me of a recent comment from “T” and I just wanted to share. I went to the dentist this afternoon and, in the waiting room. A woman was waiting at the same time I was. While she was waiting, she took her coke outside so she could have a cigarette. It just struck me as particularly bad form to go for a dental visit with a mouth full of sugar and smoke. And, if it matters, I overheard her discussing
Medicaid issues with the receptionist.
Gary Welsh says
Doug, my issues with confidentiality and dental hygiene at my dentist are within her examining rooms. She has one of these open concepts. I can hear everything she or her hygienists discuss with the neighboring patient. The last time I visited her I learned that this attorney I know is on Prozaz because he was asked if he was on any medications and he told her he took Prozac, in addition to several other medications. I’ll never see that guy the same way as as consequence of overhearing that conversation. On the hygiene front, have you ever noticed that your dentist and the hygienist always wear protective gloves when they examine you and perform dental work. However, they are constantly touching other objects around you with those gloves after they stick them in your mouth. Many of those objects are not thoroughly cleaned between patients. As a consequence, she can transfer viruses and bacteria to you from another patient very easily. I became extremely sick shortly after visiting the dentist about a year ago, and I know I got it from her office.
