For those of you who aren’t die hards that stayed on EST throughout Daylight Saving Time, this morning was the time to “fall back.” The real challenge for me will be trying to readjust my kids’ internal clocks. I was pretty happy with them getting up at 7:15 or thereabouts. I don’t relish the idea of them getting up at 6:15 again. But then there is the issue of trying to keep them up an extra hour at night. I predict lots of crying. Oh well. If a couple of folks who voted for DST get bounced out in the upcoming election, I’ll fee marginally better on November 7.

Hope things go well with your kids. I was thrilled that it was actually light out at 7:00 this morning. One little trick I did last night: I turned all of my clocks (except the ones that are set to change automatically) back to EST for a few hours before going to bed. It was nice to have the benefit of being on EST while the radio and TV stations were on EDT, if only for one night. :)

Since my girls are sleepy grumps in the morning when I have to wake them up, I’ve been enjoying the fact that they are waking up early without my help. Things went much smoother this morning.
However, that does NOT make up for how poorly the first week after last spring’s change went!

Dark at 5 p.m. sucked.

It still seems strange to me that we interrupt and otherwise mess up our natural circadian rhythm every six months or so just to promote “commerce”. Still not a fan!

This morning I visited a client’s location on a business matter. Myself, three employees of the company and a notary public were in the room. I happened to yawn, caught myself, and apologized commenting, “I don’t know why I should be tired this morning.” Three of the four took it as a cue to unleash on DST. The fourth was more mild, simply regarding DST “a uselss annoyance”. There was a general consensus that it was “great to have sun back in the morning”.

Oh, that’s right — this is the first clock movement for the folks who were recently shifted to Central Time.

I understand that you must be on CST, T. :( Those early fall and winter sunsets under CST are one reason why year-round EST worked so well for most of us in Indiana. I don’t want the whole state on Central, but will take that by default if returning to EST all year isn’t likely to happen. Just my two hundred thousand cents! :)

This morning I visited a client’s location on a matter. While I was meeting with four employees on a matter, I happened to yawn, caught myself and apologized saying, “I don’t know why I should be tired this morning.” That started a round robin of attacks on DST from folks who would have no reason to know my own views, and didn’t sound like they knew each others before that moment. Three of the four openly detested DST, the fourth was of milder opinion, simply regarding it as annoying.

St Allio’s Way has uncovered a 1960’s anti-DST announcement. It appears to be an old movie theater trailer of “in-house” ads. Gotta love “natural time”.
