That was a lot more intelligent than McCain’s comments–he actually praised the guy. I’m afraid we’ll be seeing more of that in the next few days.

Again, Falwell was not the first to bring this up.
See here.

The fact that there is so much public speculation about what or who is gay is also part of the issue. And Falwell jumped right onto the ‘he must be gay’ bandwagon and offered his credibility and high profile to the speculation. He could have taken a more judicious approach. The religious right always expects evidence and restraint from those who question their views, but from their side ‘truth is self-evident’

My boys (now 6 & 4) went through a Teletubbies phase; now they’ve mostly grown out of it. They aren’t yet exhibiting any obviously “gay” behaviors–whatever that means for 6 & 4 year olds! I suppose they could be part a long term study to see if Tinky Winky made them gay. I think they liked Dispy-the other, “straight” boy Teletubby-the best. So maybe if they were “straight” to begin with, they weren’t as drawn to Tinky Winky as a child “born” gay. I can’t believe I just wasted time thinking this through & writing this!

I feel like I should add–and so what if my son or sons turn out gay? I’ll still love them anyway! Not any of Jerry Falwell’s business, wherever he is now.

You’re kidding, right? Apparently you haven’t been around the blogosphere much lately. I wouldn’t say that Falwell is getting much “praise,” but the exact opposite.
