Left in Aboite flags Giuliani’s Iraq scandal. Giuliani may have made a mistake in attracting MoveOn.org’s specific attention to himself. Obviously MoveOn was never going to be a friend of the Giuliani campaign, but he may have been wiser to hold his fire until the general election instead of encouraging MoveOn to make him their special whipping boy.
Giuliani didn’t like MoveOn’s take on the White House’s surge propaganda, so he lashed out at them. Their response: tar Giuliani as a big old money-grubbing terrorism profiteer. In March of 2006, Congress apparently created the Iraq Study Group to which Giuliani was appointed. Problem was, he never showed up to the meetings. The Study Group told him to show up or get out. Giuliani chose the latter, citing “time constraints.” A review of Giuliani’s financial records show that those constraints were imposed by the necessity of making million dollar speeches.
Now, I’m not going to knock a guy around for making money. Confronted with a choice between government meetings and easy money, I suspect I might have taken the money. What I wouldn’t have done, however, is turn around and run for President primarily selling myself as the guy who can make America safer. If you are a dedicated public servant, convinced that you know best about America’s security, and want to be President because of your devotion and expertise, then you have to turn down the money and do the scut work.
Furthermore, if you have this kind of soft spot in your armor, you probably want to avoid poking the MoveOn.org public relations bear in the eye. While you are still in the Republican pack, you don’t have to be faster than the bear, you just have to be faster than one or two of your fellow travelers.

Maybe Giuliani had an inkling that Bush & Co. would pretty much ignore everything the Study Group did & recommended, so why bother…???

guiliani is a big phony, and opportunist.
he’s anti-2nd amendment, and was cruel, and heartless in removing the homeless from NYC- “the least of our bretheren”- some compassionate conservative.
furthermore, his public safety unions-police-fire-emts- who are not just democrats, mind you – have nothing but faint praise- to be nice- for the presidential candidate.
I’m voting for Hillary- the ultimate sharp stick to poke in the eyes of the male-chauvinist, Islamic nutjob regimes- imagine the horror on Moumoud the crazy iranian’s face when Hillary caps a nuke in his ass- to coin a “fitty-cent” hip-hop lyric..
Jason says
Hillary caps a nuke in his ass? So Hillary is the next cowboy (or gangsta, to use your words)?

Doug – Thanks for the mention. I think alot of these guys don’t take MoveOn.Org too seriously. They’ll pay for that mistake.
BTW: Roach has some “issues”, but his heart’s in the right place. . . ;)

Never been a huge fan of Rudy, but anybody that helps draw attention to what a slimeball organization moveon.org is, deserves an atta boy.
Scott says
Being attacked by MoveOn.org is not something that is going to hurt Rudy Giuliani in a Republican primary contest.
From his perspective it is probably better that they make these attacks now rather than later.
I have no doubt that Hizzoner will give as good as he gets, and then some. You don’t get elected as a Republican in New York City without being able to punch back hard.

Enlighten us about the “slimeball” nature of MoveOn?
I’m surprised we haven’t heard more nationally about the situation where Rudy put his crisis command post in the WTC (where it got wiped out on 9/11), against the recommendation of experts, because he wanted a place within walking distance to frollick with his girlfriend.
