So much for the liberal media.
John McCain and Barack Obama both appeared before the nation’s newspaper editors yesterday. The putative Republican presidential nominee was given a box of doughnuts and a standing ovation. The likely Democratic nominee was likened to a terrorist.

a box of doughnuts
Maybe the box of doughnuts was in hope that he’d have a “clincher.”

Hey– remember how the press did a collective round of mea culpas after the 2000 election? How they later said things like, “We got too buddy-buddy with Bush, but he was just so much fun to be around!”, and “Gore was no fun so it became sport to beat him up in the press”, and crap like that?
It seems like the lessons they learned about that election apply only to that election. I wouldn’t have thought that would be the case. But what do I know–I’m certainly no editor.

T, what sticks out in my memory was the media complaining back then that there was virtually no difference between Gore & Bush.
T says
Really? I recall Bush being a swell guy and Gore being a liar. Bush was a regular guy and Gore wore earthtones.
Nader said there wasn’t any difference between them. The press projected that there was a difference: One was slacker cool, and the other was a boring serial liar who generally was teh suck.
