Tom DeLay (via Opening Arguments):
Explaining that Obama clinching the Democratic nomination is a good thing for John McCain, DeLay said Obama’s “weakness†is that “nobody knows him.â€
“And if McCain does not define him as what he is — hey, I have said publicly, and I will again, that unless he proves me wrong, he is a Marxist,†DeLay said.
Disgraced criminal Tom DeLay should not be allowed to open his fucking yap until he’s completed seving his time in prison.
Tom Delay, indicted Republican: “Unless he proves me wrong, [Obama] is a Marxist.”
Maru, undicted (as of now) blogger: “Unless he proves me wrong, Tom DeLay is a raging pedophile and sheep-fucker who has more than 500 bodies buried at his estate in Texas and can’t get it up unless he sees pics of Mitch McConnell blowing goats in stiletto shoes. The goats, too.”
Advantage: Maru.
What McCain really needs is for the GOP establishment of the past seven years to disappear so that people can pretend that mavericky St. John would be taking over the federal government in a vacuum rather than in conjunction with many of the same people who have made such a hash of things over the past seven years. I have a number of disagreements with McCain’s policies, an eternal struggle in Iraq foremost, but my biggest problem with McCain is that party loyalty will keep him from cleaning out the stables where Bush, et. al, have installed loyal ideologues instead of competent bureaucrats. (And, I would suggest that an ideological belief that “competent bureaucrat” constitutes an oxymoron is a major impediment to an ability to appoint competent individuals to government positions.)

Well, Maru proves himself vulgar and no fan of free speech, but other than that, advatange Maru.
It’s lousy when the ‘betters’ put you in the position of feeling the need to stick up for Tom DeLay, the innocuous figure that he has made himself to be. Warped world it is.
Doug says
I can imagine myself sticking up for George W. Bush long before I could imagine sticking up for DeLay about anything. He’s been a toxin on the body politic and we’re better rid of him.

My latest obsession, since Michelle Obama was silenced by her husband, has been investigating the Alinsky connection to Obama.
Here’s a pretty salient quote:
Dostoevsky said that taking a new step is what people fear most. Any revolutionary change must be preceded by a passive, affirmative, non-challenging attitude toward change among the mass of our people. They must feel so frustrated, so defeated, so lost, so futureless in the prevailing system that they are willing to let go of the past and chance the future. — Rules for Radicals, p. xix
Geez. Doesn’t that EXACTLY describe the situation today?
Alinsky was a Marxist who advocated a non-violent revolution through “agitation”. He advised radicals to become lawyers, not terrorists.
How can anyone think that DeLay is wrong? Obama is the end result of everything Alinky taught. Calling Obama a Marxist is harsh because of all the baggage that comes with the term (100 million people killed by Marxists in the 20th century). But it is not inaccurate.
IndyBar says
Under Buzzcut’s analogy, Jesus, Lincoln, and Jefferson were Marxists, too. Maybe even Ayn Rand. Who knew?
Branden Robinson says
…and here come the noble Libertarians, riding to the rescue of beleaguered Republicans.
As trusty as the Lone Ranger, they are!
Mike Kole says
Branden, you used to make a contribution. Haven’t you moved yet?
Damian says
Mike,
Free speech means you ONLY HAVE THE RIGHT TO SAY SOMETHING. It doesn’t say fuck-all about people responding to you or holding you accountable for being a douche.
Learn what the Constitution actually says, you miserable little cretin. As much as you Liartarians like to beat your chest and hoot and howl about FWEEEDUM and TEH CONSTEETUSHUN, you all don’t know dick about it.
Damian says
Buzzcut, do yourself and everyone else a favor, and shut your hole. The less you say, the smarter you look. Your hateful kind can do nothing, nothing, but claim that anyone who doesn’t follow your twisted “I’ve got mine, so fuck you all” political theology are “Marxists” or “Socialists”. It’s proof you don’t have anything more than bile.
Doug says
Lay off the personal attacks and please don’t tell anyone to shut their hole around here. Feel free to go nuts on the “Marxists” and “Socialists” comments if you like.
Mike Kole says
Damian, I was reacting to Maru’s words:
“Disgraced criminal Tom DeLay should not be allowed to open his fucking yap until he’s completed seving his time in prison.”
I believe even a disgraced criminal should be able to ‘open his fucking yap’- unlike Maru. Call DeLay a douche. Hell, I’ll call DeLay a douche. But say he ‘should not be allowed to open his yap’? That wasn’t me. That was Maru.
I’d say you’re a tad off base, and perhaps a tad high-strung on this one. Misplaced vitriol like yours and ad hominem trolling by others bores the snot out of me.
dc says
What are you doing Friday night Damion? I think I’m in love….
Buzzcut has some serious problems.
“How can anyone think that DeLay is wrong?”
Baaaahhhhhhhhaaaaaaa!!!!!
