Not sure why anyone might be interested, particularly, but it’s what I’m doing, so I’ll write about it. I’ve decided to try running the Akron 1/2 marathon. They have a full marathon, but I’m not quite that stupid. I’ve completed “week 3” of my training, but that’s not entirely accurate since it’s technically week 3 of a 12 week training program where I skipped the first two weeks since the race was only 10 weeks (now 9 weeks) away.
So “week 3” consisted of 14.87 miles:
Mon – 2.51 at 9:20 min/mile
Tues – 2.0 at 8:57
Weds – 3.23 at 9:35
Sat – 5.13 at 10:50
Sun – 2 at 9:50
The Saturday run was obviously much slower – partly because it was my “long” run for the week, but also in significant part because the humidity was just brutal. Today’s run is specifically geared to be an “easy,” relatively slow run.
Next week has 16 miles on the calendar. Amy will be gone for the week, though, with me as sole caretaker for the kids; so that could be a little tough. The YMCA we belong has childcare while you use the gym as part of the deal, so it’s doable. We’ll be see.

does that make you half stupid and me full stupid?
Doug says
Precisely.

I saw some “news” story about people training for “beer marathons”. Something like running a lap, drinking a beer, running a lap, drinking a beer, and so on.
That’s not what you’re really training for, is it??
Doug says
Well, I am now!
