The first comment I’d love to hear from Obama at the debates would be

I really find this to be a case of pathetic hyper-partisan silliness that while it may get the Democratic base fired up, it all but alienates the plurality of Americans who identify themselves as independents. Camp Obama is not winning these folks over with these petty tactics.
Truth is McCain signed a pre-nup when he married Cindy McCain. Cindy is a shrewd businesswoman who worked for her father and uncle in their numerous family enterprises included the lucrative liquor distributorships.
Cindy was clear eyed about McCain’s past infidelities and spend thrift ways. Apparently the pre-nup includes several privacy clauses. The Democrats like to paint Cindy McCain as just John’s trophy wife. When in fact for the Nouveau Riche like the former Cindy Hemlsey marrying into Annapolis Royalty was a major step up the social ladder.
And yes Cindy has made lots and lots of money in real estate in addition to several “McCain” residences that are in fact her name only. Apparently she has been buying up lots of properties as investments. The Housing bust is particularly bad in notoriously bubble prone Arizona. That is how the rich get stinking rich, buying low and selling high. As long as Cindy McCain is doing the speculating with her own money I would leave the issue alone.
There are lots of politician in both parties who have been trying to play the Real Estate markets except with sweetheart loan deals from banks and mortgage institutions that they are suppose to have oversight of. This is a major glass house/throwing stones issue that could come back to bite more than a few corrupt Democrats in the ass.
Otherwise you are serving up the Obama/Rezko real estate on tee for the media to have to do some “fair and balanced” coverage of. And you do not want to do that.
The average person looks at the statement about owning houses and says “huh?” Dude, you don’t know how many houses you have? Period.
Cindy McCain has a prenuptual agreement.
Prenups are important when you’re a woman of means who decides to marry the cheat you’ve been dating.
After all these years, she still doesn’t trust him enough to lose the prenup. If she can’t trust him….

In order to insulate himself from his past, McCain admitted to his infidelities and indiscretions of now almost thirty years ago.
The infamous reverse gender Pre-Nup right out of Intolerable Cruelty of is old news to those familiar to the McCain bio.
I only find it humorous that McCain holds on to his macho swagger to the point that he is reluctant to admit that Cindy is his financial breadwinner and affords the lifestyle that allows McCain to wear $500-1000 dollar casual shoes.
McCain’s past as an ego maniac skirt chasing fighter jock is balanced with his POW record. The NYT tried to make the case for recent McCain infidelities but failed to convince others in the media and the public at large their was any substance to the allegations. Funny thing is lots of folks on the Religious Right have the biggest problem with McCain’s horndog past. It is not a major issue with the independents who will decide the election. As a former Edwards supporter, after his scandal that the MSM decided to look the other way on for almost a year and still has not been fully resolved I would leave the McCain divorce/infidelity issue alone.

There a lots of good reasons not to vote for McCain. But hyper partisan turd tossing is not the effective way to win over the 40+% of the electorate who identify themselves as independent. It would help if my fellow Democrats learn this.

I agree. You know what wins Independent votes. Honest, pragmatic, common sense policy proposals. Things like saying we have to reconsider Offshore drilling as part of any future Energy independence legislation.

The days when electorate broke down as 50+% Democratic, 35+% Republican and the rest independent are long gone.
The plurality of voters are Independent voters.

Offshore drilling answers the question of how can we save ourselves a dime/gallon at the pump and run out sooner.
It should probably be a part of a comprehensive energy policy on a scale of our Apollo moon program or bigger. But the offshore drilling, and more subsidies for the oil companies, is just about the extent of honest, pragmatic McCain’s plans. Most of his ideas honestly and pragmatically suck balls.
Obama happens to be a great orator who is able to attract thousands that admire him for his intelligence,the narrative on where he got where he is, and are hungry for change after the disaster of the last eight years. I’m surprised the GOP wants to whine about the venue for tonight’s speech. Back when their candidates didn’t SUCK, they used to fill places like the Louisiana Superdome for their nomination speeches.
