Actually, the self-recognition that one isn’t always the “life of the party” is insightful and relevant.
I’m currently in a period of self-reflection regarding my activity on blogs, and what I do know is that your blog (along with a few others, like Mike Kole’s) is precious due to its lack of an unhealthy overdose of narcissism on the part of the author.
as has alreday been said – I also value the useful discussion that goes on in the comments section, and that people try to actually answer my questions, rather than simply calling me names. Naturally, Doug, you have attracted a group of intelligent, well-informed and articulate readers, all of us modest.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve thought about quitting the blog. Well, varangianguard can. (Thanks for the kind words, btw!) It isn’t easy when you have a mind for quality control.
