Thanks to another reader for this referral. (Not sure if she wants to keep private, so I’ll forego any identifiers.) Matt Tully has a column in the Indy Star entitled GOP opens state agency’s door to party ‘friends’. He is critical of a Republican Party e-mail to several engineering firms, mostly party contributors:
“[Republican Party] Chairman Kittle and the governor’s office are coordinating with [INDOT] Commissioner Sharp’s office in relaying concerns that our friends in the transportation industry are currently having,” reads the first sentence of the e-mail from the party’s fundraising department.
Tully suggests this is a Republican Party effort to get its contributors favorable access to INDOT contracts and that the Daniels campaign would have had kittens if the Democrats had sent an e-mail like this when Gov. Kernan was in office. I am shocked, shocked at this development. O.k., well, not really. Good government? Not really. Hypocrisy? Probably. Out of the ordinary? Probably not.
