I see that Barry Welsh is running for Indiana’s 6th Congressional District against Mike Pence. I was born and raised in Richmond, Indiana which is in the 6th Congressional District, so I have some interest in the matter. Rep. Pence is pretty well entrenched, so obviously Mr. Welsh has an uphill battle. But, at the moment, the 2006 elections look more auspicious for Democratic challengers than years past. This may be particularly true with respect to Rep. Pence who has made the decision to keep the potentially tainted money given to his campaign by Tom DeLay’s scandal-ridden political action committee.
Pence’s decision was contrary to that of Republicans Jeb Bradley of New Hampshire and Heather Wilson of New Mexico who have publicly stated they will return contributions received from the political action committee started by DeLay to help elect GOP candidates to Congress.
I don’t have any real knowledge of Barry Welsh, his politics, or his qualifications other than what is available at his website, but I’ll try to keep an eye on this race as it progresses.
