The Washington Post has an article on the vulnerability of GOP districts across the nation. Unsurprisingly, Indiana gets a mention:
Even more worrisome to the Republicans is Indiana, where three House incumbents — Reps. Chris Chocola, John N. Hostettler and Michael E. Sodrel — could fall to Democratic challengers. There, Bush’s weaknesses have been compounded by the problems of freshman Gov. Mitchell E. Daniels Jr. (R), who is in hot water over his decisions to switch some counties to new time zones and to lease the Indiana Toll Road to a foreign consortium.
I would be at least a little amused if Troy “I’ll never vote for it” Woodruff’s switch in time has the effect of changing the balance of power in the U.S. House of Representatives. Woodruff and Daniels get another mention in an Indy Star article on the Indiana campaigns. Daniels seems to be a political pariah, raising money for the candidates but otherwise staying out of view. Woodruff is a top target for the Democrats.

I for one hope the Democrats take control of the Indiana House which I think they will.My State Rep.Dave Crooks says Bauer has promised him a vote on his time zone referendum right a way if the Democrats gain control of the House.People down here even my brother in law who is a solid Republican voter is sick of BAIT AND SWITCH MITCH and the last thing anyone wants is to let his party keep control of the House which gives him a easier chance to get more of his screwed up legislation passed!!
Just think all the Republican candidates in the state must love DITCH MITCH Daniels and his Toll roads and DST legslation not to mention closing some licsense branches in their districts!
As I have stated before on this blog if my counties time zone is changed I will join the millions who do not vote in this country ,after this election because I promised Rep Crooks I would vote for him.If the time zone is changed it will show me the DOT is not a honest agency because they will have changed a ruling in less than a year on the advice of a unpopular Governor with no clear position, special interests, and coersion in the case of Dubois county.

I have been looking over the whole 61 page final report on the state of Indiana Time Zone Boundary and found this on page 24 and 25 under Southern Indiana Regional Configurations:
DOT has CAREFULLY reviewed this data, REGIONAL CONNECTIVITY CHARTS and utilized it in reaching its decision.DOT recognizes the importance of regional connections and benefits of similar time zones and regional connections and benefits of similar time zones and regional ties among counties.Remaining in the same time zone maintaining their regional ties BETTER POSITION COUNTIES to realize advantages in economic, cultural, social and civic activities thereby serving THE CONVENIENCE OF COMMERCE.
Now since all the 5 counties wanting to move to Eastern are in the Evansville Commerce region, same workforce developement region and as stated by DOT and happens to be true that they interact with each other more civicly, economicly, culturely and socialy why the hell don`t they leave things alone!Or could it be they may be swayed by BAIT AND SWITCH MITCH the man of too many positions to count on this subject!!

This is a prime example of “two Americas”: a political leader (Speaker, Governor, President, whatever) goes against what the majority of the people want, Republican and Democrat, but still there are people who will gladly give him money to continue this crusade/charade.
