A new Indiana political blog has started up going by the name of Blue Indiana. I think the official start date is February 14. But, I’m sure that on that date, I’ll be frantically trying to slap together a romantic gesture of some sort.
Blue Indiana is designed to be a clearinghouse for the best work of the Indiana blogosphere, with a specific interest in political issues and electing left-leaning candidates who believe in the core-principles of true, responsible representation. It will be a community blog, which is a very important distinction, because that means its success or failure will be completely dependent on you .
It is set up on the Soapblox platform which allows folks to create user accounts, post diaries, and the like. I’ve toyed with the idea of moving Masson’s blog to such a platform to better take advantage of the particularly high level of the commenters here. (No, I’m not above pandering — but, it also happens to be true). As with so many things, I have not gotten around to it yet.
Anyway, keep an eye on Blue Indiana if you are interested in left-leaning Indiana politics.

An interest in electing candidates? That means this there will be a PAC filing to accompany, for by law, free speech in America isn’t what it used to be. Thanks, McCain-Feingold.

Is the blog name really a political indicator, or a reference to the Colts (or just a comment on how darn cold it is lately)?
Doug says
It seems to be a political indication. But, I suppose associating with the Colts couldn’t hurt for the time being.
Thomas says
Thanks for the plug. In reply to Mike, I can only say that lawsuits are a high form of flattery in the online world, I think. The ‘blue’ is a political indicator, but more than that an indicator of my complete lack of creative energy. I’m not above riding the Colts’ coattails though…

Just checked godaddy.com
redindiana.net is available.
wonder how long it will take republicans to register it.
Amy Masson says
Perhaps we should buy it to keep it out of their hands?
Parker says
Amy –
What, and stifle their dissent?
Idunno says
That would require them to know how to put together web savvy material and regularly update it with intelligible sentences…
Parker says
I don’t think such skills are very closely correlated with politics – I’ve seen plenty of good, bad, and ugly web sites of every political stripe.
It might be fun to have Red, Blue, and Purple Indiana sites, leaving Doug to specialize in finely tuned Indiana government whacking…
Thomas says
Well, as a poor college student, I’ll leave the internet warfare to someone with a deeper pocketbook. I already can’t afford the websites I have registered.
