Normally I only post about a book that I’m reading when it has some substance to it. I’d hate to create the impression that I’m some kind of book snob, so I thought I’d mention that The Brothers Karamazov got a little heavy for me at about page 300. I put it down in favor of The Destroyer #111 Prophet of Doom. I’ll pick up Dostoyevsky again sooner or later, but sometimes a guy just needs a little mindless fun. The Destroyer books certainly fit the bill: super assassins save the day, repeatedly.

Doug, is there a particular reason why your sidebar is taking up real estate in the text portion of your blog? I can read about every 6 words, which actually makes it a lot more entertaining (think Caveman-speak) but not very understandable.

I don’t know. Works fine with Firefox, but I launched Internet Explorer and have the same problem as you do — also the Google Ads section is putting up a “page not found” where the Firefox version is showing the Google Ads fine.
Below the Masthead Factory ad, do you see “Ads by Google” or “The Page Cannot Be Found”? (Or something else). And, if you could tell me what version of what browser you are using, that might be helpful as well.
Thanks for the heads up.

Doug-
I’ve finally caught up to the point of the “Brothers K” that you posted a few weeks ago. I’m in the middle of the lunch between Ivan and Alyosha. I stopped one chapter before the “Grand Inquisitor” as I want to be fresh when I read that section.

I’m getting the “Page Cannot be Found” with I.E. 7 (latest and greatest patches).
Now what have you done to me?? When someone I respect mentions a book they’ve enjoyed, I’m drawn to reading it myself.
#111???
A used copy of “Created, The Destroyer” (book #001) can be purchased online, used, for $7 including shipping, or I can pay $9 for it in ebook format (preferred).
$9 x 111 books =
Yikes!

Ok, just have to share this:
According to Mobipocket, readers who purchased “Created, The Destroyer” also purchased “The Koran.”

I am seeking help from my web designer wife.
And, no, I don’t have all of the Destroyer books, probably only 5 or 6 of them. Normally I just pick them up at a used book store for 50 cents or a dollar or something. The original “Created: The Destroyer” is a little tougher to come by since it was the first. I think I actually paid about $20 for it but was disappointed because I don’t think it’s as good as the others. They hadn’t settled into the formula yet at that point. It’s kind of like watching the first episodes of the Simpsons and hearing Homer saying “Oh no” when clearly a “D’oh!” is called for.
Seriously though, these books will *not* make you any smarter. Just mindless entertainment. And I am easily entertained.

I’ll look into this after I get Cole to school and Harper down for a nap, but for readers who are having trouble, I’d recommend that you stop using the worst internet browser ever created and switch to Firefox. IE sucks.

Conan the Destroyer is more my speed. and only if its a movie- where I can get the cliffs notes version in 90 minutes- formatted to fit my screen, and edited to run in the time allotted..blablabla
but for now; we need “Perry Massson”( i know- you’ve heard that a hundred times.. said the blogger named “roach”)
heres something interesting to read:
http://www.turkette.com/home.htm
(40 or so pages of why Matt Kelty’s Indictments should be dismissed.)
longer than “Doctor Zhivago”. more humorous than Otters Speech from Animal House

I laughed. I cried.
but mostly I giggled- where do these lawyers come from, and what diploma mill were THEY taught law at? reminds me of the movie “the Devils Advocate”
does any of this make any sense to you? could you please Dissect this monstrousity for the rest of us commoners, unversed in the arcane sciences of law; and explain this to the rest of us “great unschooled”?
thanks Doug! I enjoy your blog. You’re a nice guy.
