Wow, that was an ugly game. The Colts led the Vikings for all of 3 seconds. Fortunately they were the last 3 seconds. Our running game was non-existent. The passing game was hot and cold. The defense held up reasonably well, giving up only field goals.
Glad we won, but you get the feeling this could be a long season, particularly once we start playing AFC teams.

Didn’t see it. We’ve been busy up here keeping track of the remnants of Ike. Between a rain band that wouldn’t stop over the past day and a half and Ike; we’ve received over nine inches of rain. After church, on my way home, many roads were on the verge of closing. My wife went out after three and told me many of the roads were closed. To top it off the school system called us today with a recorded message that only identified the caller. So I guess I need to listen to the radio-you know, old school-to see if the boys have school or not.
A lot of Chicago is under water, too-including a few major expressways that are closed completely.
Rev. AJB says
Add to that list the Borman (80/94 in Indiana). The Little Cal brok through the levee and flooded the highway again. The last time it did that a big chunk of that freeway was closed for four days.
I just read that all major roads in Schererville are closed due to flooding-so I guess no school for the boys.

Lost power at home two hours before the game. Still don’t have power.
We got no rain, but a couple of hours of pretty sustained 40-50 mph winds with some stronger gusts.
I went out to the car to listen to the post-game. This year will be a struggle, it sounds like. Also, if Vinatieri and Vanderjagt had auditions for the job today, who do you think would win? You kind of have to hit those 30 yarders in a dome. Of course, I didn’t see it. Maybe the snap was bad.
Doug says
The snap and the hold looked fine on the replay.
Hope the weather gives everybody a break.

We’re sunny now and should be for the rest of the week. That’s the good news. The Little Cal crested at it’s highest level ever late last night/early this morning. They have no idea how long it will take for all the water to get out of the affected areas. We have a lot of flooding all around but my home is fine. I’m glad we didn’t lose power becaue my sump pump was going continuously most of last night. It is now cycling every ten seconds. We received more than nine inches of rain in a little over a 24 hour period. It is a new record. Pretty much every school district is closed in Lake and Porter counties. Even Griffith had to close theirs because 28 teachers called in this morning to say they couldn’t get from their homes to school.
Talked to my folks and they said that Richmond was smacked with high winds-but no rain. We had the rain, but very little wind. I can only imagine what would have happened if we had had both. My folks had no power last night when I talked to them and had a large tree come down dangerously close to their house. I guess some trees also came down on National Road around Earlham.

We’re still without power at my house. 31 hrs. and counting. Last night was a fun little novelty. But I was kind of hoping for a bit of electricity tonight. There was still some leftover hot water this morning, but tomorrow’s wakeup will be a brisk 59? degree shower, if nothing good happens in the meantime.
BAW says
Yeah, it sucked big time. I lost power here in Louisville last Sunday about 1:10 p.m. Missed all of the games last Sunday. Got power restored here at my house about 11:05 a.m. this morning almost a week to the hour without electricity. LG&E had about 301,000 customers without power at the peak of the storm last Sunday, as of 9:00 p.m. this evening there are still about 24,000 LG&E customers without power, and about 955 Duke Energy customers in Southern Indiana without power. I had to go out of town on a pension audit in Southeastern Kentucky two days last week, it was cool to be in a hotel room with electricity and TV.
