Charlie Weiss Ate My Baby has some great Colts v. Patriots “campaign” posters up. Just one, posted without permission, so go take a look at the originals:
The Colts are the reigning champs, they are undefeated for the season, they have a 12 game winning streak going, they have a 13 game home winning streak going, they have beat the Patriots 3 games in a row, they’re playing at home . . . and they are a 4.5 point underdog to the Patriots. It might just be time to exhume Rodney Dangerfield for a little undead “No Respect” schtick.

It’s really sad when an undefeated, 7-0 defending champion are talked about as if they are afterthoughts. I never root for injuries. I really don’t. But part of me wants to see Bob Sanders break Tom Brady in half on Sunday.

I’d settle for Randy Moss. Brady is a good quarterback and seems like a more-or-less o.k. guy. Moss, by contrast, is a moody prima donna.

You got to love Marlon Jackson. Nearly knocks himself out forcing what should have been ruled a fumble instead of a incomplete pass. The coaches had to insist he had to sit out the rest of the game.
Jackson vs Moss should be quite a match up.
Just in case Tom Brady better have Giselle flown in so he has a Supermodel’s shoulder to cry on.

Everyone loves the Pats because they’ve been absolutely demolishing everyone, while the Colts have merely been winning convincingly (except maybe for the Titans game). Of course, the Pats have also been running up the score, like they did yesterday when they were leading 38-0 in the 4th & Brady was still in & passing. Meanwhile, the Colts pulled Manning when they were up 31-7 on the Panthers…
Doug says
And, of course, remember back when Manning was setting the TD pass record, Manning wasn’t even playing a significant number of 4th quarters, let alone running up the score.
T says
My perception was that Manning pulled up a bit at the end of his 49 TD year.
Brady sulked yesterday when he was finally sat down. I think he understands that life won’t always be this easy, and he would have preferred 500 yds passing and three more touchdowns in a 87-0 blowout while he can get it.
We are deservedly the underdog, because we lag in the stats. Either we’ll win by 2-7 points, or lost by 14-28 points. They have so many weapons. But we do have a history lately of playing them tough. The standard rules apply: If they’re able to rape our receivers, it’ll get ugly. If we get behind early this year, the task of coming back will be too great. But for once, we have an expectation that we might hit harder than they do. They also have an inflated sense of self-worth right now, and haven’t been tested. Look how many points Miami put up on them.
Doug says
This year, I figure we can be the receiver-rapers. Hopefully Bob Sanders, et al., can hit ’em hard and hit ’em often.
