Niki Kelly, writing for the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, reports that, after taking testimony, the House Judiciary Committee postponed a vote on HJR 3 (formerly known as HJR 6) as well as its “companion” bill HB 1153. (See my prior “Nix Six” post for details.) The speculation is that this means there is at least uncertainty about whether they have the votes for passage. The members of the committee are, Republican Reps. Steuerwald, Washburne, Cox, Koch, Leonard, Mayfield, McMillin, McNamara, and Torr and Democratic Reps. Bauer, Delaney, Dvorak, and Smith.
Ms. Kelly reports that all four Democrats will vote against the proposal (although, I know that at least Rep. Bauer voted in favor of it last time through). That means if there are three Republicans who also oppose the measure, the proposal will not pass. While the proponents of HJR 3 are primarily Republicans, there are a growing number of Republican opponents as well. Even, I suspect, on the House Judiciary committee. Just how many opponents remain to be seen.

Like that surprised you! ;) Ok how about the last lyric of the song ! Hmm maybe we need a Justin Timberlake to re-record this since Hank is dead!
Ok lets sing one more chorus!!!!
Mindin’ other people’s business seems to be high-toned
I got all that I can do just to mind my own
Why don’t you mind your own business? Mind your own business
If you mind your own business, you’ll stay busy all the time

There are only a few creditors who can file a lien against real estate without first getting a judgment, – attorneys, hospitals, people who do home repairs. I didn’t realize this had become a problem.

Rep. Bauer spoke against it in the hearing.

Like the new style says your better half did it? Now we the know the real reason Doug got married! ;)

Absolutely. The night we met, I was smitten with her because: a) she was a computer geek; and b) she correctly pronounced “Masson” when she saw it written. Also too: easy on the eyes.

What’s interesting about the testimony is that there are Republicans and corporate interests leaning hard on the committee to toss this out. At the least, the Republicans can’t dismiss this is some sort of freaky lefty Hollyweird thing.

Hello! I have been following this blog off and on for a couple of years now. I understand about 60%, not bad for a science person. I have been volunteering with Freedom Indiana since it began and sat in one of the big blue chairs and watched the whole committee hearing yesterday. It was a really exhilarating few hours as it was the first time I had seen a hearing. In every conceivable way, their testimonies were terrible and I thought, if this is what they brought, they (Eric Miller, etc) must not even care about getting this passed. Although I am sure that’s untrue, it is still a giant slap in the face to logic if this thing passes.

Also, thanks for the blog and is he-who-shall-not-be-named for real? That has to be a troll with a word of the day calendar.
