Lest someone chide me for not decrying threats when they’re made against politicians with whom I usually disagree, I wanted to post to make sure it’s clear that I don’t see any place for this sort of thing in our politics:
Indiana State Sen. Mike Delph has received an e-mail saying the man suspected of shooting U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords should have instead targeted someone like him.
Actual and threatened violence is clearly beyond the pale. You should also not glibly use metaphors that allude to killing people with whom you disagree. The first two are subjects of legal prohibitions. The latter is not, and probably should not be. Not inviting them to parties, and not voting for them or giving them money to campaign is probably sufficient.

I think Delph can handle himself. I met him in person in one of those tunnels between the capitol buildings one time (he’s buddies with one of my buddies, who introduced us during a chance meeting). He is in pretty good shape.
I don’t have a very high opinion of pretty much anybody in Indianapolis, but I like Delph. Dude gave away a jar of PEANUT BUTTER, of all things, to everyone at the GOP convention this year.

Being in good shape is no defense against crazy. Neither, for the most part, is a gun for that matter.

Thanks Buzz, for telling us you haven’t got “a very high opinion of pretty much anybody in Indianapolis”. Now that we know, we don’t have to try to impress you anymore.

You know what I mean. Colts fans. ;)
Nah. I mean our elected representatives.
