Well, darn. John Edwards is dropping out of the Presidential race. I can’t say I’m surprised, but it’s at least a little unfortunate. At the very least, he was pounding the drum about the economic situation of the middle class. That forced Obama and Clinton to pay attention to such issues. We will see if Edwards’ departure allows their attention to wander.
Senators Clinton and Obama will now be keen to win an endorsement from Edwards, yet he is playing his cards close to his chest. The former North Carolina senator will not immediately endorse either candidate, said one adviser, who spoke on a condition of anonymity in advance of the announcement.
As I’ve said frequently, I liked John well enough. But, watching the political shows, I’m sure I’m not the only one to see his wife Elizabeth and think, “Hmm, maybe she should be the one running for President.”

Edwards is fine enough. He did beat the drum for the middle class, but outside of that, he never showed me anything that really wowed me, really got me excited.
I’m surprised that he is dropping out now instead of waiting one more week. Lord only knows what Super Tuesday will bring.

My guess is that he wants to turn around and endorse Obama. But that’s nothing more than baseless conjecture on my part.

I agree with you Doug, I think he will endorse Obama. This is going to get interesting!
Hm... says
I hope he does. Otherwise his message goes up in smoke. I sense the AG -job opening up for Edwards. Any Republicans shredding lately?
T says
Again, an Obama/Edwards ticket has appeal. Bill Clinton maybe for Sec. of State. Hillary Clinton for Senator from New York.
Hm... says
OMG NO!!!! I see Obama – Webb, Edwards for AG, Richardson for SoS, Hillary in the Senate with Ted and Bill in Aruba soak up rays and babes…
T says
Obama/Webb vs. the Republican ticket in a no-holds-barred cage match.
Doug says
The Dems would look pretty awful if McCain broke a hip or something.
