Things are looking pretty good for Obama nationally. Daniels will remain governor. Buyer will keep IN-04. Something odd is going on in Wayne County which hasn’t reported any results. I haven’t seen full numbers for the AG race or the Superintendent for Public Instruction yet. It’s very tight for Obama and McCain on the state level. Feel free to report from where you are.
Secretary of State results here.
Update Seriously, what the hell is going on in Wayne County? 0% reporting. At this rate, Indiana’s electoral votes are going to depend on Richmond. That’s insane.
Ben says
Getting fed up that Union County, Ohio still has no results like Richmond, Indiana. Only 30,000 votes or so to count. What’s to tough about that?
Pila says
Not sure what’s going on in Wayne County. The local coverage on cable access has been delayed. Then I noticed CNN showing Wayne County as “white,” meaning no reporting. Wayne County had voting at only a handful of locations, so maybe that is presenting a problem with getting the totals. Many people voted last week, however, including me.
Rev. AJB says
Lake county has only 75% in. I’d like to know which precincts-is Mayor Rudy holding out again sothat Gary puts Obamaover the top?
Also see that Marion County has no reports in-even though MSNBC has them blue.
It would look so bad if Ohio went blue and we stayed red-like a great big hick thumb sticking up from Kentucky!
Jason says
Wow! Lake county took it from a 40,000 vote lead for McCain to a 5,059 vote lead.
Still a lot to count.
Obama has the election, we know that. I just want to see Indiana go to him.
Jason says
CNN just called it for Obama.
Rev. AJB says
Yeah, Lake County said that anyone in line-regardless of the length of the line-by 6 pm would get to vote. So I don’t know when the last precinct will get their results to Crown Point.
I’m looking at all the parties around the nation-damn what a wind of change. I feel like I’m in college again-only then I acted politically like a 40 year old-and at almost 40-I’m now like a 20 year-pld.
Damian says
It’s over!
We won!
Doug says
Got a little misty there for awhile. I’m very happy.
Rev. AJB says
Yeah, Damian, but I’m up until Indiana is called…and maybe later-I’m too hyper!!!!
Doug says
Seriously though, Wayne County – 0% reporting, Obama up 8,000 with 94% reporting. What the fuck, Richmond?
Rev. AJB says
Obama is up to 306 right now-let’s see, Bush got a “mandate” in ’04. So what did Obama just get?
And he just got Florida-take that Hanging Chad, you naughty boy;-)
Rev. AJB says
Doug, it’s all those non-confrontational Quakers;-)
Pila says
CNN and MSNBC calling the election for Obama. Virginia apparently going to Obama.
I was/am holding out hope for Indiana going to Obama, but just the fact that my vote for President may have actually meant something, and that Indiana was in play at all is great. Just to give some idea of how much things have changed here since 2004. Back then, I was taping my soap from the Dayton, Ohio station. About the last six weeks before the election, I had to switch to taping from channel 8 in Indianapolis because Kerry and Bush visits in the Dayton area kept pre-empting my soap opera. I don’t remember channel 8 being interrupted for campaign coverage one time in 2004. Now I watch my soap on the internet, if I watch it at all, so not sure if there were pre-emptions in Indianapolis this time, but I bet there were.
Not to rain on anyone’s happiness about Obama, but of great concern to me is that Mitch Daniels was re-elected governor. That should not have happened. The future of Indiana looks bleak to me.
Pila says
Can Richmond at least get a WTF instead? ;-)
Brenda says
Only 4% reported in Morgan County.
Rev. AJB says
Pila-I agree about Daniels…and did my part. But I did not vote straight ticket-and obviusly many in the state did not either.
JLT did a piss-poor job on her campaign-at least in northwest Indiana. The one and only time I heard her voice was at the Obama rally on Friday night-and that was for a few moments. Otherwise…it was cricket sounds up here.
Damian says
If IN goes for Obama, I’ll do a cartwheel. Really.
Pila says
Rev. AJB: There were so many issues on which Daniels was vulnerable: CAFO’s, privatization, DST (yes, that’s still an issue to some of us); gutting of state services, the economy, cronyism, etc. If JLT had even addressed a few of those issues and run a forceful, but truthful campaign, Daniels would have been defeated. Such a lost opportunity. I’m afraid that Daniels will take this win as a mandate to continue with his destructive “governance.”
Regarding Wayne County: according to radio station WKBV, one voting machine malfunctioned in such a way that the votes recorded could not be retrieved. The election officials are awaiting a call from Omaha to figure out the problem.
Rev. AJB says
Pila-Yeah, I think she just figured that she had blue Lake County all locked up.
Jason says
Damian,
I want to see a photo of that cartwheel you owe us. :)
