Tonight Jill Long Thompson and Mitch Daniels will have the first of three debates. Libertarian candidate, Andy Horning will also be in the debate. It will take place in the Star Plaza in Merrillville. The pressure is probably on Long Thompson who is trailing in the polls and is facing a well-funded incumbent who, for whatever reason, is not being penalized for the unpopular decisions he made in the early part of his first term. If Daniels is following the play book of his mentor George W. Bush, he made his unpopular moves early in his term, tempered his actions in the second half, and will revert to early-term form as soon as he’s re-elected.

For the Dems to have any chance they had to put together a better ticket.
I am not a huge fan of many of Daniel’s moves/decisions, but I will give the guy credit. He ran on a platform and he executed that platform, he actually did something. Anybody who was suprised at his actions wasn’t paying very close attention.
Doug says
I was a little surprised that when Daniels said “Central Time Zone” what he meant was “Eastern Time Zone.”

Roughly three people will watch this debate. Unless Daniels or Thompson or Horning suddenly confesses to a secret vice, no one will pay any attention. This is, in my humble opinion, awful.
Jason says
Haha, lemming! Me makes 4! :)
Paddy says
So was I Doug, but I guess I was thinking a little more globally. And the Central vs. Eastern is a big deal now, but coming in just moving to DST of some sort was the bigger issue.
It still doesn’t change my mind on the fact that the Dems basically gave themselves zero chance to win.
Doug says
I’m certainly not going to start crowing about the Democrats’ chances on this one.
