I have to confess that my attention during the debate was divided between the TV, household chores, and helping my son with his homework.
But, from what I saw, Mike Pence delivered a low energy performance, reminiscent of Obama last week. He’s playing not to lose and focus on his positions and past history won’t help him rise above the support he already enjoys going into the debate.
John Gregg had a strong performance. One thing is for sure; no one is going to out-Hoosier him. Talking about Pence “lightin’ around” in that pick up truck. Gregg even mentioned time zones and class basketball, so he knows what makes me tick. If he’d said something negative about the Old Confederacy, I might have swooned.
Rupert’s positions didn’t strike me as very libertarian; for example, pro-union, anti-Right to work. But he had a strong close — talking about how it was all well and good to talk about Indiana doing better than its neighbors, but that doesn’t at all mean we’re doing as good as we can.

Found you on the google checking poll results twixt Gregg and Pence.
And longtime Balloon-Juice reader.
And the race that has my interest is Donnelly/Mourdock. And I heard Mourdock lying on the Garrison Show Monday claiming ObamaCare uses federal tax dollars to fund abortions.
Disgraceful.

Libertarians usually hate real freedom, but at least they have the intellectual honesty to recognize that so-called “right-to-work” laws are incompatible with their vulgar notion of “freedom” since they violate an employer’s supposed right to set the rules for who can come on the property he purportedly owns.

I didn’t watch the debate because Pence’s voice gives me hives. Thanks for the summary!

I am sparked by the time zone debate myself. Can anyone tell me whether the Gregg campaign has an official position on the time zone issue? I recall that Speaker Gregg was responsible for holding Indiana to standard time during the nineties. Then I remember that he advocated Central time in 2006. Last year, however, I heard him say that he presently enjoyed Eastern daylight time.

Well, we all, mostly, enjoy it, it just isn’t good for the school age kids, who have to go to bed in summer when it’s still bright out and get out to the bus stop in total darkness in the winter. Other than that, ENJOY!

next debate is Wed evening @ Notre Dame.
Did Pence ditch his Armani suit and instead wear a red checkered flannel shirt, jeans and straw hat for that debate? Will Pence pull up to DeBartolo Performing Arts Center in an old red tractor, after eating at one of the “ma and pa” diners in Lakeville?
Pence is as phony as they come.
