Rep. Jim Lucas has introduced HB 1018 which would prohibit state agencies, including state supported colleges and universities, from restricting the possession or transportation of firearms on state owned land or buildings. A person “adversely affected” by such a regulation can bring suit for triple damages and attorney’s fees.
This is similar to a measure passed with respect to political subdivisions a few years back, restricting their ability to regulate the possession of firearms on local government property.

And I wonder how that will work out for the students at Purdue.

In addition, I wonder if anyone considered the scenario of a hormone-charged alcohol party at a frat house in which a spurned lover decides to take revenge on the one who stole his girlfriend. It used to be a few punches. Mix late teenage angst with alcohol, hormones, and rejection, then add a handgun. I’m sure people will remember Rep. Lucas.

Considering there was already a ban in place, and the shooting still happened, I suppose it will make no difference at all.

Very very disturbed and upset over the tragedy at Purdue today.
Just like that. Bang. So many lives destroyed.
So tragic.
