Rep. Murphy has introduced HB 1075 which requires a health care provider to perpetually store embryos created through in vitro fertilization or artificial reproduction. Failing to do so is a Class A misdemeanor. The only acceptable way for a health care provider to get rid of an embryo if the biological parents abandon it is to have the embryo adopted.

Can they register to vote when they turn 18?

Oh, that’s brilliant. So is the state of Indiana going to foot the bill for this infinite cryo-storage? The countries that have these types of laws in place _also_ have national medical plans that help pay for multiple assisted reproduction attempts.
Embryo storage is NOT free. IVF/ICSI is an arduous, expensive process for the patients, and it’s seldom covered by employer or private insurance plans; that’s one of the reasons why additional embryos are created in the first place.
If this passes, those who want this type of medical service will have to go out-of-state clinics.
