I used to like James Carville, then I switched to neutral when he was making noises against Dean’s 50-State strategy in favor of the losing, defensive DNC strategy of the previous 10 years. Now, I’m pretty sure the guy is just a tool.
Bill Richardson made what by all appearances was a tough decision for him to endorse Barack Obama. Basically, he put what he thought was best for the country over his personal friendship and gratitude toward the Clinton family for their assistance in his political career. Richardson recognized that there is something special about Obama that will ultimately be better for the country than second Clinton presidency. Clinton-ally James Carville’s response:
“An act of betrayal,†said James Carville, an adviser to Mrs. Clinton and a friend of Mr. Clinton.
“Mr. Richardson’s endorsement came right around the anniversary of the day when Judas sold out for 30 pieces of silver, so I think the timing is appropriate, if ironic,†Mr. Carville said, referring to Holy Week.
This is a guy CNN let on the air as a “political analyst” for the Democratic primary without forcing him to disclose that he was a Clinton partisan when offering up his “analysis.”

Carville jumped the shark when he and his wife did that show “K Street” for HBO / Clooney.

This issue really bring into focus the absurdity of Hillary’s candidacy and the way she and Bill have approached it. A few weeks ago when there was talk that Richardson would endorse Obama, there were reports of someone close to the Clintons (may have been Bill, but can’t recall for sure) said something along the lines of “what, two cabinet appointments weren’t enough?” Richardson was a cabinet member under President Bill Clinton. I can understand why it would seem disloyal if Richardson were endorsing someone else in a primary challenge of President Bill Clinton. But the idea that by becoming a cabinet secreatary, Richardson not only owes loyalty to the president who appointed him, but to that president’s spouse if she decides to run for president eight years later? It’s perverse. What if Hillary wins two terms and Chelsea decides to run in 2024? Is Bill Richardson bound to her candidacy as well?
This is the whole problem with nepotism in politics. What should be a a routine political disagreement (a former president a a cabinet secretary on opposite sides of a nomination fight) is somehow elevated to disloyalty because of the family relationship. I’m nearly to the point of voting against every politician with a recognizable surname. As for the Clintons, I’m finding it increasing hard to believe that I once admired them.

Bill CLinton will speak at the West Lafayette High School Gym at 7:30 on Monday night. It is a free admission event.. b ut I know no other details. I may be an Obama supporter, but I will go and see a real live former President when he appears three doors down from my classroom.

What I can’t accept easily is how the Clintons threw out the window overnight all the good will they had built up through the years with Blacks. It’s just amazing.

Lou, more proof to me that that will do anything for power. I mean, I am amazed at so much of what they have done.. and it has turned my stomach inside out. I hope I don’t have to vote for her this fall. Because we can’t take another 4 years of Bush = McSame = McBush.

May also that Obama’s point is valid here too.Race is the issue even when it isn’t the issue. That’s my own interpretation of Obama, to be sure.
