Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich has been arrested on corruption charges, including efforts to get money in exchange for his decision to appoint the replacement for Obama’s vacated Senate seat. Blagojevich, a Democrat, succeeded Republican George Ryan as Illinois Governor. Ryan has been convicted and imprisoned on rackateering and fraud charges.
Illinois voters kind of remind me of the hunter in the joke who gets mauled and raped by a bear. He keeps coming back for revenge and keeps getting mauled and raped by the bear. Eventually the bear pauses and says, “you’re not here for the hunting, are you?”
But it’s tough when you vote for a different party,and it’ ‘deja vue all over again’.
I realized Blagojevich was bad when early in his term he term he tried to raid the retired teachers retirement fund.
He is evidently taped cussing out Obama for not co-operating which is good news for Obama.
You forgot about withholding $8 million to a children’s hospital until the ceo paid him $50,000 to his campaign fund and not helping Tribune Company sell the Cubs unless they fired the editorial board that hated him.
It has been interesting living in the Chicago media area today.
Latest is that the Iliinios legislature is trying to figure out a way to have an emergency general election for Obama’s seat. That may be a way around Blago still having the power to appoint…and wouldn’t you LOVE to be that person?!?
Of course if W. decides to pardon George Ryan…Ryan can probably quietly sneak back to his hometown and live his last remaining years in obscurity. I’m sure he’ll send Blago a gift basket for that!
This is why, during my entire life, I have yet to trust an Illinois governor. And this is coming from a guy who spent some twenty years of his life there.
Blago’s done for, but this story is just beginning. I know that the right’s going to try and make some hay out of this story, trying to tie Obama directly to Blago, cursing-out or no.

I recall it was just a few years ago that pilots went out to Miegs Field to discover Mayor Daley had plowed up the runway in the middle of the night. Pilots had to use the taxiway as a runway to depart.
Ugh..Daley. I’m more upset about the fact that he is STILL in power after that Miegs B.S. then the Gov has been arrested.
At least they’re working on fixing the problem with the Gov…the mayor of Chicago has a free pass.
