For some reason, this most recent press release from the Ackerson campaign reminds me of Robert DeNiro in Cape Fear saying, “Come out, come out, wherever you are.”
Once again 16 year incumbent Steve Buyer has said “NO!” to a debate in Clinton County being sponsored by the Frankfort Times and WILO. Steve makes it clear to the voters in the 4th District that he has no time for them and is afraid to come out in public to defend or explain his views. For those keeping track, Nels has accepted every debate invitation and has fought to make them accessible to all voters!
Buyer likes to portray himself as a bold soldier. All of this cutting and running suggests otherwise.
(Will my school yard taunting compel him to debate? I doubt it, but it probably can’t hurt.)
It’s even worse in the 9th: in 2006, Baron Hill repeatedly demanded debates from May onwards; in 2008, he’s been trying to avoid them like the plague. Will the voters punish the hypocrisy?
