Taking Down Words is one of the more venerable blogs in the Indiana blogosphere — yeah, that means 3 years or so. For most of that time, Jen Wagner has been the writer behind the TDW nom-de-blog. At one point, early on, I believe it was operated by several people before becoming a sole proprietorship. Now she’s stepping down as a blogger and stepping up to work for Jim Schellinger’s gubernatorial campaign. She says that being a parent has softened her up. Odd, I think it’s made me crabbier.
In any case, I’ll miss the free-form Democratic snark. Now she’ll have to worry about messages and articulating a candidate’s vision and all that serious stuff. It’ll be interesting to see if and how the site evolves.

Who would have thought that Taking Down Words and Indy Undercover would be gone within months of each other?
Matt Brown says
Sad. And, Doug, parenthood has that effect on me, too.
Donno says
Doug, could you crank up the snark a bit here? There’s going to be a huge snark deficit in the Indiana blogosphere without her.
Doug says
Low-key sarcasm is more my speed. I’m not sure if I can manage high levels of snark.
ZW says
Venerable? We need less of what TDW had to offer: knee-jerk, hyperbolic partisan opportunism. (And that applies to both parties.) Good riddance.
Doug says
Maybe I’m misusing “venerable” – mainly, I was referring to longevity. I enjoyed reading TDW; (fwiw, I enjoy reading Hoosier Pundit as well) – so long as there is no pretense at objectivity.

How quaint that snark has become the word for being obnoxious….
