Joe Lieberman is a fool. Hunter tells us why. In part:
If you don’t support indefinite action in Iraq, if you don’t support the most aggressive of uberhawkish positions in the Middle East, Joe Lieberman will declare you an appeaser, pure and simple. It does not matter what other foreign policy positions you may hold: whether you support action in Afghanistan, or wish to see a non-nuclear North Korea, or what your opinions may be about Sudan or Myanmar or Tibet or Russia or Pakistan or the dozens of other crisis points around the world; for Lieberman, Iraq is all. Support Iraq, or you are not “serious.” Support Iraq, or you are an “appeaser.”
Her is a man unbalanced by the rage that can only come from a steady stream of human failures. Foreign policy is a simple land, for Joe Lieberman; it steadfastly consists of doing the most aggressive thing at the most aggressive time, and all other options are weak to the point of very nearly being anti-American. And yet as Iraq has shown, such actions can be not just unwise, but catastrophically destructive. For Joe Lieberman, asserting his opponents to be complacent or unpatriotic or appeasers is the only possible rhetorical option remaining, and he lacks the wisdom to leave it unused.

So your lead in was foolish of you.
Oops. Uh-oh…

McCain-Lieberman ’08. How cool would that be?
Liberman told Hannity that he was “having a great time” on the trail with McCain.
If McCain is going to lose, he should at least go down in a blaze of glory. I wonder if Lieberman would seriously consider being McCain’s VP.

McCain/Lieberman would be like Statler & Waldorf — the old guys on the muppets sitting on the balcony.
Parker says
Statler & Waldorf had better writers.
As for which pair would be more animated, I call it a toss-up.

Is it too late for a Dole/Ferraro ticket?
Buzzcut says
Not if it’s Elisabeth Dole.
Parker says
I think you just found McCain’s dream VP!
Rev. AJB says
How about a Keyes/Ferraro ticket? Dang let’s just offend everybody at once!

How many liberals and conservatives would prefer a Nader/Barr ticket to a McCain/Lieberman ticket?
Usually a minute or two into his droning on and on about how I’m an appeaser who ruined the Democratic party, or America, or whatever, I want to stop appeasing and make war directly on that idiot’s brainstem. Being lectured by a cheerleader for what has possibly been the worst foreign policy blunder of my lifetime is a bit much anyway. But his sanctimonious tone multiplies the offensiveness of his stupidity.
At least Zell Miller had an endearing “rabid ferret” quality that made him somewhat entertaining. With Lieberman, I feel like I’m being simultaneously indicted and lulled to sleep.
