Some numbers to back up the notion that John Edwards is getting next to zero media attention. Edwards is competitive in Iowa before the primaries – no coverage? Edwards beats Clinton in Iowa? Still no coverage – it’s all about Obama & Clinton. Edwards comes in 3rd in New Hampshire? The attention to Clinton is clearly justified at that point. Now, Edwards is statistically tied with Obama and Clinton in Nevada? Still no coverage.
It’s so bad that I suspect if Edwards wins Nevada with Obama second and Clinton third, the news coverage will be “Obama beats Clinton.”
Nothing Edwards can do about it, I suppose. Just keep himself in the game and see if any opportunities present themselves.

He just needs a win, any kind of win.

I agree, I like Edwards a lot, I have not watched a Democratic debate for a long time but I was able to watch the one on MSNBC the other night. I have to say I liked them all.
Like you suggest Doug, for 5 minutes while Obama and Clinton shake hands and sign autographs after the debate Edwards was nowhere to be seen. It was probably better not to be seen than no one asking him for his autograph.
I am wondering if he may settle for VP again.
tim zank says
I bet he would settle for VP, but would either one of the others ask him?
Doug says
I don’t think he’d really make sense as a VP candidate this time around. I’m sure Clinton has other plans and doesn’t have much use for him anyway. He and Obama probably tend to appeal to many of the same constituencies.
Maybe more like Secretary of Labor or Attorney General.

Edwards has said a number of times in the past few weeks that he has no interest in VP. It sounded like he meant it. Doug, you make some interesting suggestions for other positions.
