Just thought I’d mention that I saw a Mike Kole bumper sticker on a truck in Lafayette today. I can confidently say that is the only bumper sticker I’ve seen to date for the Secretary of State race.
Now, just to be a trouble maker, I’d like to posit a hypothetical which is plausible albeit not likely, that would be a great deal of fun to those of us in the peanut gallery.
So, let’s say Mike wins the Secretary of State race. Let’s also say that the November elections result in a 50/50 Republican/Democratic tie in the House of Representatives. Under such a scenario, the law (specifically IC 2-2.1-1-7.5) requires a Libertarian Speaker of the House of Representatives. That law requires that, in the event the House is comprised of equal numbers of Representatives from two political parties, then the Speaker shall be elected by the members of the House affiliated with the political party whose candidate was elected secretary of state. (If this were to happen in a year when the Governor was up for election, then it’s the Governor’s party affiliation that determines the Speaker.)
Assuming there is no Libertarian in the House, I don’t know how the House would legally comply with this provision or otherwise break the tie.

That’s interesting. They couldn’t comply with the statute as written, so I’m not sure what they could do.
Paul says
Sound like a good reason in itself to vote for Kole, though I’d say there are enough other reasons.
Bil Browning says
Mike Kole has up a guest post on bilerico.com today talking about his candidacy and the Libertarian Party.
Mike Sylvester says
I could list at least 15 reasons why everyone should vote for Mike Kole.
I hope you all vote for him…
I know my family and I will be voting for Mike Kole!

Rex Bell for Speaker of the House.

My best wishes to Mike Kole. I would love to see him win. If I currently lived in Indiana, I would vote for him, just like I voted for fellow Libertarian Jerry Kohn when he ran in that senate debacle vs Keyes and O’Bama. I wish more people had voted for Jerry since there were so many disgusted Republicans then, in the wake of now convicted George Ryan. I think the same situation exists in Indiana now, in the wake of Daniels failure to support the wishes of his constiutents in Northern and Southern Indiana.
