Ken Kusmer, writing for the Associated Press, has an article entitled State Designing Health Plan.
Relatively few details are in place. That’s why FSSA Secretary Mitch Roob began a series of five public hearings across the state Monday in Fort Wayne, and his agency will field questions from insurers on Wednesday in Indianapolis.
Still unresolved are how people will enroll in the one or more plans the state offers, how the state will make the plans portable as enrollees change jobs, and how to make payroll deductions smooth for enrollees’ employers.
“There are a lot of details that we need to work through here,†Roob said Monday in a telephone interview while en route to Fort Wayne.
Getting those details right will be critical if FSSA is to succeed in getting low-income adults to enroll for coverage – at the cost of an annual deductible of up to $1,100. Also, to free up Medicaid cash to help subsidize the state plan, the state will need approval from federal Medicaid officials.
The plan calls for assistance to people not eligible for Medicaid but making less than 200% of the poverty level.
Apparently Mitch Roob is in charge of hammering out the details. Why am I not comforted. Oh yeah, because my blog has a search engine capable of tracking some of Roob’s greatest hits. He seems to be a True Believer in privatization and isn’t terribly careful about avoiding appearances of impropriety.
