Apparently Obama took a trip. I didn’t pay much attention to it, but apparently the press did – and, why not, it was a change from the usual campaign events.
McCain was apparently critical of Obama traveling abroad, which is odd, since I McCain wanted him to travel abroad. Perhaps McCain is irritable about not getting to set Obama’s precise itinerary.
Now I expect a flurry of negative coverage of Obama in an effort to inject “balance” after some heavy-duty whining about the largely positive coverage Obama received while overseas.

Yeah.. I don’t understand, Doug. I took a trip to Germany — 3 weeks in fact– and got NO press coverage! And McGrump never complained once about me. Dammit.. must not have done it right.

We may be seeing a bit more coordination between the Bush Administration and the McCain campaign. The episode where Obama announced he would visit wounded troops, followed by the Pentagon saying it would be inappropriate, followed by Obama respecting the Pentagon’s judgment, followed by McCain’s people criticizing Obama for not visiting, was interesting. Expect to see more of that type of thing in the coming months.

The above comment by T. validates what Andrea Mitchell reported on MSNBC about the Landstuhl wounded soldiers visit before either campaign even made comment . She said that Obama campaign was furious when they found out that the Pentagon was immediately feeding all their side of the details of Obama’s non-visit directly to the McCain campaign. So the wounded soldiers’ visit was destined to be an issue if Obama visited or didn’t visit. So it looks as if a dirty campaign is beginning…just what this country needs with so many people suffering severe economic problems.

How precious. McCain already has an ad out hitting Obama for not visiting the troops “because cameras weren’t allowed”. McCain’s selective amnesia is in full effect, since he also cancelled a similar visit due to Pentagon restrictions.
Doug, your earlier assessment that McCain is a “douchebag” gave McCain too much credit. He’s a lying douchebag.

It’s looking like the Dole campaign without the energy or class.

It’s the Dole campaign, if it had been managed by ambitious junior Roves.
