Looks like Sen. Alting’s SB 32 passed the House which allows the continuation of vote centers in Tippecanoe, Wayne, and Cass Counties and provides for the option of adopting them in the other counties. All I can say is that I like them personally. I don’t know how they affect voters of various socioeconomic conditions or whether they skew to one party or another (though, it looks like a good chunk of the Democrats voted against them in the House.) I’m happy Tippecanoe County will be able to continue using them.

I agree.. I understand that people feel they might be located in places where large swaths of voters might not go… then don’t allow it in your county. I think in grown-up counties like ours.. it makes real sense.

Doug, do they do early voting at your vote centers?
Paul K. Ogden says
I”m 100% for voting center. I wish they would get delinked with early voting in people’s minds. I am supportive of voting centers but I’d be skeptical of increasing early voting. There’s something to be said about everyone collectively coming together on Election Day and casting a vote.

Tippecanoe County takes early voting to all the local nursing centers – guaranteeing older/ retired/ disabled – conservatives – to vote. We allow two days on campus – lightly served. And the outlying areas a couple of days. AND we allow 8 hours a day at three local supermarkets and a church — for NINE days prior to the election day. It’s increased the voting percentage immensely.
