Sen. Taylor has introduced SB 47 which would add black history to the required social studies curriculum along with the Constitution, government systems, U.S. and Indiana history, and the Holocaust.
I’m all for kids learning black history along with women’s history, economic history, labor history, medieval history, the history of science, Native American history, religious history, and, really, history from any angle you can think of. But: a) I’m not a fan of the legislature micromanaging the curriculum; and b) the Holocaust and black history seem oddly specific when compared to government systems and state and national history.

Aren’t you a little late on disliking micromanagment by the legislature? I’ve come to believe that they think that’s their specialty.

You talking American history???? Hmmm that be all colors wouldn’t it! Be up to the author of the book to add what they could. 270 plus years give or take 50 years. Then you have to go to Plato to deal with Democracy. Man forget the book – DVD time!

Hmmm I am old school – lets use the Cloud!

Well, as a retired history teacher, I can some merits in it, although your points still carry the day.
Growing up and learning our great history in jr. high and high school, I was really surprised when I began to find out in mid-life that there were actually other people who had contributed to the makings of America besides the usual gang of White Men. That was a SHOCKER!
