I’m always happy to get some press, even if my name isn’t quite spelled right. (The story mentions “Masson’s Log” rather than “Masson’s Blog” — possibly due to the proximity of the mention to “Kemp’s Log”. But I’ll take it.
Other bloggers who have the best of Indiana newspapers include Masson’s Log by Doug Masson of Monticello – who is becoming the authority on the time zone maze – and Kemp’s log, an environmentally heavy log by lawyer E. Thomas Kemp of Richmond.
Speaking of the time zone maze, Evan Bayh was recently heckled on the subject of Daylight Saving Time:
Bayh, speaking at a fundraiser for a state legislator in Ames, was about to discuss an Indiana college scholarship program he created while governor.
“If I had to pick one thing I was proudest of . . . ” Bayh began.
“Daylight-saving time?” a listener shouted out, causing big peals of laughter.“No, it’s not that,” Bayh said. “But I see you’re familiar with our state.”
Now, if Bayh were a real Hoosier, he would have taught the heckler a little respect. It’s all well and good to debate the subject amongst ourselves, but it’s presumptuous of outsiders to think they can intervene in our little family squabble. Instead, Bayh’s tepid response revealed him as the wooden, D.C.-raised Senator’s son that he is. But maybe I’m still mad at Evan for voting to repeal the Paris Hilton tax.
