Sylvia Smith has a column in the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette entitled Bring back Souder the watchdog. Everyone will be surprised to learn that back in 1997, Mark Souder waxed poetic about the solemn duty of the Congress to conduct oversight over the executive branch. In 2007, he’s not so keen on the idea. Maybe breaking his term-limit pledge has addled his brains, but, more likely Souder has adopted the maxim “It’s OK If You’re A Republican.” Ms. Smith does a nice “then and now” demonstrating the extent of his hypocrisy.

Great catch. I somehow missed this article this morning, and it can go into my growing series of posts chronicling the ridiculous hypocrisy that is Rep. Souder. I mean honestly, you think someone on his staff would tap him on the shoulder every once in a while and just mention how ridiculous some of the stuff he says is.

I picture a scene like in Animal House where Bluto is ranting about the Germans bombing Pearl Harbor. “Germans?” “Forget it, he’s rolling.”

Pardon me but I gotta say it:
Well, DUH!
Where was Sylvia during the election? Now, not only do we have a bad Representative in IN-03, we have a lame duck.
People in Allen County and the rest of IN-03 have to start looking past an elephant or a donkey and actually look at the individual they are voting for.

I’ve often wondered how elections would turn out if there was no indication of party allowed on the voting machine, the political ads in the media, or yard signs.
It would never happen, but a girl can dream, can’t she?

I nearly fainted when I read negative comments about Souder from Smith. I thought she was his campaign manager during the last election. Souder has only been a hypocrite for the past 6 years, so, maybe Smith is just a little slow on this subject

and what about Burton? or Pence? or Buyer? Not that Dems are stellar by any means (*cough* Carson) but these guys make the Three Stooges look brilliant!
